There are two types of mouthguard: the first is the over-the-counter mouthguard which provides little or no protection for your teeth and mouth. It can be difficult to get an over-the-counter mouthguard to fit properly and as a result it can be displaced during play and may hinder your breathing; this type of mouthguard is not recommended. The second type of mouthguard is the custom fitted mouthguard which is made from a plastic material called Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA). EVA is strong and tough and can be easily moulded to fit precisely over your teeth and gums. This type of mouthguard provides the best protection, fit and comfort for all levels of sport.

The procedure is very simple; our dentist will take moulds of your upper and lower teeth. These moulds will be sent to the dental laboratory where our technician will fabricate your custom-made mouthguard. We can check its fit at your next appointment and you will be ready to wear it.
Your sports mouthguard will need replacing over time. Just bring it along to your check-ups and our dentist will inspect it for wear and tear.
